Dear child,

Do not be afraid. I will not let you down. I will stick by you and protect you.

Give your entire attention to what I’m doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. I will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

Save your fear for me, the one who holds your entire life – both body and soul – in my hands.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting me know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of my wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when I displace worry at the center of your life.

Trust me from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.

Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before me. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to me, and you will begin to sense my grace. Be still, and know that I am God.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me, and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

I don’t come and go. I last. I am the Creator of all you can see or imagine. I don’t get tired out, don’t pause to catch my breath. And I know everything, inside and out. I energize those who get tired, give strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon me get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.

I guard you from every evil, I guard your very life. I guard you when you leave and when you return, I guard you now, and I guard you always.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Love,

God
